Checkout in a Cessna 172P

Well I have been wanting to try something new in flying for a while. So when I heard that Astral Flight Academy was opening at Salt Lake International I thought I would stimulate the economy and go try them out. So I got an appointment set up to get checked out in a Cessna 172P. I haven't flown a Cessna in years so it took some getting used to! It was a typical checkout and we headed out to the practice area over the lake and did some stalls, steep turns, and then headed to Tooele to do some landings. My first couple were...not the best. But after a while I got used to the approach and how much it would float during the flare if you weren't careful! Then I just started nailing the landings! It felt great. My instructor said that he couldn't have made better landings himself, and that my communications were better than his. This was a real confidence booster after the couple not so good landings. The skyhawk is a fun bird. I much prefer the Cherokee though. But its just a stepping stone and eventually I could grow to like it!
